MARCH MADNESS AND A BIG MOVE!

Oh boy, do we have news.  So much is happening in March I don't know where to start!  First, and most exciting, is announcing that CGMSG is MOVING!  Don't worry--we're not going far and will be staying right in Lake Worth.  Our new location is still a bit of a secret, we'll be announcing our new address very, very soon and will be inviting you to join us for a "housewarming" party in the very near future.  We will be in our Lake Ave location untill the end of March, and plan to go out with a BANG!  March is jam-packed with events, shows, parties and more.  First up is our March 1st Friday event celebrating wood and glass.  Gallery artists Wayne Smith (glass spinning), David Cericola (wood carving), and Eric Codner (wood crafts) will be showing and demonstrating thier amazing works in glass and wood.  Please come support these wonderful artists!

THEN, a Mug-A-Thon of epic proportions--two nights of ART, MUSIC, and BEER .  What's better than enjoying a free beer at South Shore Tavern & Patio Bar you ask?  Answer:  Enjoying said free beer in an ARTISAN HAND MADE CERAMIC MUG, that's what!!!  Come to the Gallery and reserve a hand made, glazed ceramic mug for $30.00, then on the dates of the event, MARCH 8TH AND 9TH, grab your mug and fill it with a free beer at the Tavern!  One free beer per mug.   The mugs are gorgeous, glazed and fired by some of the county's finest artists and craftsmen (and craftsWOMEN).  The mug is yours to keep, and also makes a WONDERFUL GIFT.  So, come raise a mug to help the Gallery move into our new space...all proceeds support CGMSG and our efforts to support local, independant arts and artists!

Next on the schedule is one of our favorite celebrations of silliness, our annual Peeps Show.  This year we have opened the show to all Palm Beach County artists and Peeps afficianados.  $25.00 entry fee and the chance to win $100.00 and the title of Peeps Supreme!  Contact the Gallery for more information, 561-588-8344.  Rules are simple, the diorama must be larger than a shoebox and no larger than one person can carry. You must use Peeps brand marshmallow creatures (bunnies, chicks, etc.).  NO OTHER BRANDS.  For a peep at past shows (see what I did there?), click here.  This is such a fun, cavity generating event, get your glue guns ready and join us!!!

And finally, we close March with a fantastic Woody Guthrie tribute concert featuring a wealth of local musical talent.  Again, a portion of the proceeds raised will support CGMSG, so get your tickets and come sing along!!!

WHEW!  I think that does it for March.  All of us at the Gallery thank you for your continued support of our Gallery and the many amazing local artists we include in our family.  We look forward to welcoming you to our new location, and many, many more exhibits and shows.  As always, our goal is to support local art and artists, and bring these amazing, talented folks to your attention.  We will do our best to continue to showcase excellent, local, original INDEPENDANT ART!!!  See you soon......

Spring is in the AIR!!!

April is such a fun month.  April Fool's Day, Easter, and the onset of Spring!  The Gallery is getting ready for one of our favorite events, our annual Peeps Show.  Yes, I said PEEPS!

For those unfamiliar, the Washington Post began Peeps Shows several years ago, inviting folks to create three-dimensional dioramas using marshmallow Peeps.  Google it, and prepare to laugh yourself silly.  It is AMAZING what you can create using marshmallow Peeps!  Not to be left out, CGMSG held its first Peeps Show last year (pics here) and it was a "sweet" success.  Thousands of folks visited the Gallery over a one week period to see the sticky art created.  What a fun event!

This year's show will be just as silly, and we invite art lovers of all ages to join us this Friday, April 20th, at 6:00 for the unveiling of the Peeps creations.  Peeps Couture will be featured, along with many other amazing installations.  This show is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and perhaps give you a cavity or two....We encourage guests to come dressed in their best Peeps-wear.  Last year some really lovely hats embellished with Peeps were on proud display.  So, dust off your Peeps, and see you at 6:00!!!

Peeps A Plenty!

When we asked our Gallery artists to create 3-D art using marshmallow Peeps, we expected some fun, silly works. What we got is simply extraordinary! The slideshow below features photographs taken by Durga Garcia of the Peeps Show exhibit currently being shown in the Gallery. You simply must stop by to see this in person! Peeps at the beach, Peeps dancing, Peeps on Safari, Sgt. Peepers Lonely Heart's Club Band, and so much more! Come by tonight for lemonade and Peeps, bring your kids, and have a good giggle. The show will be up until Sunday, April 24.

Special thanks to Frank Cerabino and the Palm Beach Post for covering the show!

Wonderful Celebration of our EARTH!

Thanks to all that attended this past Friday's "Earth/Bowl ~ Sky/Basket" Gallery opening. It was a lovely evening, with representatives from Palm Beach County Reef Rescue, and guest pianist Nino DiSilva. We had a great time!

Now, get ready for a really FUN event next weekend. With Easter right around the corner, we decided to host a "Peeps Show" Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24. Gallery artists, and other local artists, have created 3-dimensional works of art using marshmallow Peeps! The works will be displayed in the front of the Gallery, including a special Peeps presentation with Norm Gitzen's famous "Siren" mermaid sculpture outside. Please stop by over the weekend to marvel at these silly, creative creations! Oh, and we will be serving the iconic marshmallow candy as well...Prepare to PEEP!
